Lot 3

Terrific Oversized Quarter Plate Daguerreotype,
2003 Americana May 8-9.
anonymous, 3.5 x 4" plate in an embossed leather case. A great studio image, with a solar reflector making a strange mottled "saucer" over the heads of the three sitters. The middle gentleman bears a resemblance to Cornelius Cole, California U.S. representative and senator during the Civil War and immediately afterwards.

Brasseur Collection of Cased Images

Plate resealed, case with detached cover. Light mat abrasion along left edge, one bit of corrosion at lower left.
Est $500 - $700
