Art of the American Indians: The Thaw Collection

On Saturday, I left the warmth of Cincinnati and ventured into the Cleveland tundra to attend the opening of the Thaw Collection of American Indian Art at the Cleveland Museum of Art.  There were some absolutely beautiful pieces on exhibit.  The collection consisted of material from across North America and ranged from a Hupa Dance Skirt from 1840 to a phenomenal ribbed blackware bowl by Nancy Youngblood.

Here I am holding a rendition of the Yupik Finger Masks, one of my favorite pieces in the show.
