Fine Pair of British Flintlock Officer's Military Holster Pistols in Spring Auction

A Pair of British Flintlock Officer's Military Holster Pistols by William Brander will be offered in Cowan's Spring Antique and Modern Firearms auction.

The pistols are dated 1765, and are signed "Brander Minories, London" with a stand of arms, a full view of London, proofmark and W.B. Brander.  The silver furniture is outstanding, with the stand of arms in high relief, accented with fine engraving, made by John King of London.  The pistols are housed in a modern wood case which is lined with green felt.  They come complete with flask, cleaning rod, bullets, and screw driver. 

William Brander worked from 1752-1789 at 70 Minories in London.  Additionally, he worked for the East Indian Company.  John King was one of the finest London silversmiths in mid-18th century London.
