Rare Bayonet Sold in Fall Firearms and Militaria Auction
Cowan's recently sold a Rare Eckfelt Committee of Safety Socket Bayonet in their Fall Firearms and Early Militaria auction. The bayonet was estimated at $500-$700 and sold for an outstanding $6,900.00.
The maker, Eckfelt, had a contract to make 500 of these bayonets in 1781. The base is stamped with "U.S." and "Eckfelt" faintly above it.
